Overcoming Barriers to UAS Integration
Regency Ballrooms E-F
Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) have seen unprecedented levels of growth during the last decade in both military and civilian domains, however, many recent events have highlighted the potential safety impact of introducing drone operations into the nation’s airspace. As the number of UAS operating in domestic airspace increases, safety risks will persist until FAA establishes performance, air traffic control, and certification standards to regulate UAS use. To meet its goals to safely integrate UAS, our community must collaborate to establish these standards and adhere to a comprehensive integration plan with other public and private stakeholders. This panel of experts from across aviation will discuss the barriers to safe integration of UAS in the NAS and includes inviting new entrant industry representation to participate and improve the dialog and understanding of this rapidly growing segment of aviation. Moderated by Brigadier General Paul D. Nelson, Raytheon.
